Youth dies after car collides with PRTC bus in Patiala

PATIALA: A 24-year-old MBBS pass out was killed in a road accident on Sunday morning after his car collided head-on with a Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus in Patiala. The PRTC bus was hit by a truck from the rear within no time, leaving some of the passengers with minor injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Rohit Garg who hails from Ghagga town of the district. The incident took place at Samana–Patran road in Patiala around 8am when the speeding bus collided with the doctor’s car who was on his way to Patiala to attend a blood donation camp. Rohit cleared his MBBS from Government Medical College Patiala only a week ago and got 7000 rank in NEET. He was planning to take admission in postgraduation.
The police said that following the head-on collision Rohit died on the spot and the bus driver also sustained injuries. The police added that the truck hit the bus from rear just few minutes after the collision. The car was completely damaged in the incident and the deceased was pulled out of the damaged car.
Investigation Officer in the case, Angrez Singh said, “We have registered a case against the accused bus driver under sections of IPC including rash driving and negligence causing death. The bus was reportedly overspeeding. We are checking all the facts and have also recorded statements of some commuters. The bus driver managed to escape though he was also injured. Some of the passengers sustained minor injuries and left the hospitals after getting first aid. The incident took place amid dense fog on the highway.”
The police added that the body was sent for post mortem and the family members were informed about the incident.
