Kilometre scheme in Haryana: Jhajjar GM flags off five buses

CHANDIGARH: Amid protests by Haryana Roadways staff, Jhajjar GM flagged off five buses under the per kilometre scheme on Sunday morning.
Much to the surprise of many, soon after bus started the ignition, an employee of Haryana roadways laid down before the buses. Later more employees joined him and raised the anti-roadways and the anti-government slogans.
All this went on for an hour before police removed the agitating employees and allowed the buses to go out of the bus stand.
Notably, after hiccups and controversies, the Haryana transport department has agreed to run buses under the per kilometre scheme. With these five buses, total of 90 buses out of the 510 have come out on the roads.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has already ruled out the withdrawal of scheme, especially under the protests by Roadways employees.
Roadways employees are demanding withdrawal of buses as this has hit the state exchequer.
Notably, in a bid to bail out the contractors who have bought the buses two year ago, the government had decided to put the buses on road in case they agree to the terms and conditions of government.
