Post-graduate youth loses Rs 14,000 to online job fraud

Nagpur: A postgraduate youth, who had recently completed Master of Science (MSc), was duped of Rs 14,000 by a trickster on the pretext of securing a job for him in a pharma company in July last year.
According to sources, Husban Khan, 23, a resident of Ayyappa Nagar, had registered himself on Naukri.com and uploaded his resume on the website.
After a few days, Khan received a call from a person who offered him a job at Sun Pharmaceutical. The caller told Khan that his resume is good for the job, but he will have to go through online interviews and other procedures.
The caller initially asked Khan to send Rs 2,000 to his account as registration charges. After Khan had sent the money, the caller arranged an online interview following which he was informed being selected for the job.
The accused later asked Khan to send Rs 7,000 for completing other formalities, which the job seeker complied with. As Khan suspected something fishy, he called the accused and demanded the money back. Khan told the accused that he doesn’t want the job now. The accused convinced Khan to send Rs 5,000 more saying after that the entire amount deposited by him will be refunded.
In the hope of getting the money back, Khan deposited Rs5,000 in the bank account provided by the accused. After the money was deposited, the accused switched off his mobile. On realizing he has been duped, Khan approached cyber complaint cell (C3) of city police and filed a complaint.
After primary probe, C3 transferred the complaint to Mankapur police station where a case of fraud has been registered. Police are now trying to track down the owner of the bank account in which the money was deposited.
