Ganja peddler arrested from Thampanoor bus station

T’puram: The excise special squad here on Sunday arrested a habitual offender with over 1kg of ganja. The officials identified the accused as Ayyappan (32) a resident of Bismi Nagar near Karamana. He was booked under section 20 (b) (ii) (B) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The excise special squad officials said that the accused was held from KSRTC Terminal at Thampanoor, where he regularly sold ganja. He was held when he arrived here to hand over ganja to a customer. The catch was made by a team led by excise special squad inspector T R Mukeshkumar.
According to Mukeshkumar, Ayyappan was a habitual offender involved in numerous crimes in the past. He was mostly involved in pickpocketing and chain snatching cases. His modus was to purchase large quantities of ganja from Madhurai in Tamil Nadu and sell it here in small packets. The squad had been monitoring his activities for the past one week.
