HYDERABAD: A 12-year-old boy was electrocuted to death after he came in contact with a live wire while scaling the compound wall of Film Nagar Cultural Center (FNCC) on Sunday.
Banjara Hills police said that the deceased, a Class 6 student and resident of Durga Bhavani colony near FNCC, entered the FNCC premises by scaling the compound wall to collect a few tennis balls from the tennis court.
While he was leaving the premises by climbing the compound wall, he came in contact with the high-tension wire. Police rushed to the spot and disconnected the power supply after an FNCC staff member noticed the boy in trouble and alerted the police. However, the boy had died.
“One of the FNCC staff members noticed smoke emanating from a live wire and a boy stuck to it from far away, after which he alerted the police,” sub-inspector Ravi Raj told TOI, and added that the boy entered FNCC with the support of a locked gate at the rear side of the compound wall. “While returning, he took the support of a table, which was kept at the tennis court, to scale the wall. The boy had come to steal the balls from the court,” the SI said.
Police said that the compound wall was well-constructed and the electricity department officials have sealed the area around the transformer near the wall.
The boy’s father had passed away several months ago and his mother works as a maid. Police have registered a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPc.
