CR collects Rs18.32 crore fine in 10 months

Nagpur: The Central railway (CR) has collected Rs18.32 crores in fine from passengers travelling without or irregular tickets and also unreserved luggage in 10 months from April last year to January 2020, which is a rise of 17% as compared to penalties slapped during the same period last financial year.
In January, the CR’s fine collection was Rs1.69 crore which too is an increase of 16.4% for the same month in 2019.
The CR authorities, in a press release, underlined that increase in actions from 3,42,802 lakh between April 2018 and January 2019 to 4,09,512 during the period between April last year to January this year. This is 19.5% increase in actions taken under the supervision of divisional railway manager (DRM) Somesh Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager Krishnath Patil and asst divisional commercial manager HK Behera.
The CR’s crack down on the ticketless riders was stepped up in 2019 and there is no let up this year too. During the period between April last year to January this year, CR’s special drives had resulted in detection of 72,311 cases of ticketless travelling in which fine of Rs4.23 crore was collected.
