Engineering student ends life in hostel

Vadodara: A 17-year-old student of diploma engineering of a private college at Savli ended his life at his hostel on Saturday afternoon.
Deceased Ronak Vashi, a native of Dahod, studying in the mechanical branch at a private college was staying at the college hostel. On Saturday, sometime between 2 pm and 5 pm Vashi went to the neighbouring room of the hostel and hanged himself from the ceiling fan using a nylon rope.
Vashi’s room partner learnt about the suicide when he went to the neighbouring room to hunt for him.
The friend then alerted the college management which informed the police. The institute also called Vashi’s parents to inform about his extreme step. But as the family members asked the cops to keep the hostel room sealed till they arrived, cops could not take possession of the body.
It was only after the kin reached Savli late in the evening, that the cops could bring down the body and send it for post-mortem. The police have registered a case of accidental death, while the kin suspect wrongdoing. “It is unbelievable that he killed himself. He was not someone who would take such a step. The police should conduct an in-depth investigation,” said a relative, Dilip Baman.
