The charity match turned out to be a huge success and raised USD 7.7 million, as confirmed by the Cricket Australia (CA), towards the bushfire relief funds.

Former Team India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has expressed his delight after taking part in the Bushfire Cricket Bash match on Sunday (February 9).

In the match, Ponting’s XI defeated Gilchrist’s XI by 1-run.

After the game, Tendulkar took to Twitter and shared some memorable pictures from the match where the legendary batsman can be seen signings shirts.

"Competitors on the field, friends off it! I had a lot of fun coming together for a cause like the Bushfire Relief. Happy to have contributed towards the #BigAppeal," Tendulkar's tweet read.

Ex-India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh the former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting also voiced their delight to be able to help raise funds for the Australia bushfire relief and thanked the fans for turning up in numbers.

"The southpaw club ! #legends , raised almost close to 8 million dollars for the bushfire relief fund !  Thank you people it’s great to see the world uniting when we need each other @gilly381 @BrianLara," Yuvi wrote on Twitter.

While Ponting captioned his post with: "An awesome day today catching up with old mates and getting back out there for a good cause. You can donate at https://cricket.com.au/bigappeal/ where every little bit helps for those affected by the bushfires #BigAppeal".
