Surat: Teenager killed over suspicion of affair

SURAT: Over 100 people arrived at the city police commissionerate with the body of a 17-year-old class XII student who was stabbed to death in an area under the limits of Udhna police station here on Saturday. The victim was stabbed five times by an 18-year-old teenager on Friday over suspicion that he had an affair with his sister. The victim’s family members came to demand quick and strict action against the accused.
Earlier family members and neighbours of deceased Rohit Baviskar sat on a dharna on the campus of New Civil Hospital and refused to accept his body after postmortem. Later they brought the body to the police commissionerate. They were given an assurance of strict action by senior police officials after which they performed Rohit’s last rites.
“The family members were demanding strict action and immediate arrest of the accused. We explained to them complaint has already been registered and that police were working hard to nab the accused,” said a senior police officer.
“We have traced family members of the accused who had also disappeared from their house in Pandesara. But the whereabouts of the teenager are not known yet,” said a police officer at Udhna police station.
Mukesh Pimple, a resident of Nagsen Nagar, has been booked by police for killing Rohit on a complaint by Dashrath, father of the deceased. Pimple suspected Rohit of meeting his sister secretly and had an argument with him in the past, police said.
When Rohit came out of his tuition classes at Vishnu Nagar 1 in Udhna on Friday, the accused stabbed him five times on back side of head, near an ear and twice in chest. The accused had punctured heart of the deceased, police added.
