NEW DELHI: The body of a
five-year-old girl, who had been kidnapped from her
residence in
outer Delhi, was
found near a
garbage dump in Nihal Vihar. Police said the accused, a
juvenile, had been apprehended.
Officers said the juvenile “seemed to be an immature boy who killed the girl in a fit of rage”. Police have not ruled out the possibility of a sexual assault. Postmortem report of the girl is awaited.
At 9.30pm on Friday, police received an information about a girl gone missing from her house. The girl was last seen playing outside her residence. A case of kidnapping was registered. A team of officers searched for the girl through the night but could not find her. On Saturday morning they were informed that the body of the girl had been found at a vacant plot, which was being used as a garbage dump by the local residents.
The girl had been hit by bricks multiple times. Some blood-stained bricks were found by cops. The accused was apprehended on Saturday evening. He told officers that he killed the girl as she would not let him “play games”. “It was a frivolous fight and the minor boy killed her. He said he had slapped her during their earlier fights as well,” an officer involved in the investigation said.
The girl’s father works as a driver and her mother had died a year ago. “I was out at work when I got a call from home asking if I knew where my daughter was or if she was with me. I informed my family that I was at work alone. It was then that we realised that she had gone missing,” the girl’s father said.
“There were brick-hitting marks on the face and skull of the girl,” said A Koan, DCP, Outer.
