Varanasi: Traffic diversions along several routes

VARANASI: The traffic police department will introduce restrictions and diversions along several routes in the city in view of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahina Rajpaksa’s visit, Maghi Purnima and Ravidas Jayanti on Sunday.
Expecting rush of devotees from Allahabad on the occasion of Maghi Purnimam, SP (traffic) Shrawan Kumar Singh said, “Vehicles heading to Dashashwamedh Ghat from various roads will be diverted towards from Maidagin, Luxa, Beniabagh and Sonarpura. Vehicles heading towards Lanka from Cantonment railway station will be diverted to Mahmoorganj via Kakarmatta.”
Commuters heading towards Bhaisasur Ghat and Rajghat will be diverted from Bhadauchungi, Visheshwarganj and Padao. The entry of heavy vehicles into the city from highways will be prohibited on Sunday. The restriction will be effective since early morning and will continue till the crowds thin.
In view of the religious processions organised on Ravidas Jayanti, no vehicular movement will be allowed between Maidagin and Gowdowlia after 8am. When the processions will cross Godolia on Maidagin route, traffic restrictions will be imposed on Godowlia-Lanka road via Shivala.
