Action against Gorakhpur cop for his dharna

GORAKHPUR: The sub-inspector, who staged a protest in front of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue in Gorakhpur on Friday alleging harassment at the hands of land sharks and demanding safety of his family in Jaunpur, has been sent to Police Lines and will face departmental action.
Sub-inspector Rahul Rao staged a demonstration holding a poster with an appeal to CM Yogi Adityanath to ensure safety of his family in Jaunpur from land mafia who, he claimed, were trying to grab his land.
SSP Sunil Kumar Gupta said, “Prima facie, we found that the land was not being encroached by any land mafia but the work of metering was on following the orders of SDM. He took the wrong platform to air his grievance. He has been sent to Police Lines and strict disciplinary action will be taken against him.”
When contacted, the S-I refused to comment on the matter claiming that he had some health issue and would not be able to talk.
