VIJAYAWADA: AP Joint Action Committee (APJAC), Amaravati, on Saturday passed a resolution in
support of the three-capital
proposal. The extended state general council meeting of
APJAC held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, however, listed down 37 demands.
Representatives of around 90 departments and pensioners elected the new general body of the APJAC, which has 40 members. Bopparaju Venkateswarulu was elected as the chairman and APSRTC employees’ union leader YV Rao was elected as the secretary-general.
The JAC chairman urged chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy to fulfil his election promise and remove contributory pension system for government employees. “We are waiting for the decision on reviving the old pension system in the place of the contributory pension system,” Bopparaju Venkateswarulu said.
“We wholeheartedly support the state government’s action plan on decentralisation of administration. We request the government to resolve long- pending issues of the employees before shifting them to other places,” he said. JAC members from various departments demanded that the state government increase the retirement age to 62 years. Ministers Perni Venkata Ramiah (Perni Nani) and Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Kodali Nani) participated in the meet and assured all support from the state government.
