JAIPUR: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by two persons when she was returning home from school in Jodhpur’s Mandore police station area two days ago. The girl’s family lodged an FIR on Friday.
The accused, under the pretext of giving her lift, took the minor on their bike to an abandoned place and sexually assaulted her. Investigation is underway, though no one has been arrested as yet.
Mandore SHO Sita Ram Khoja said, “The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with us that their daughter had been raped by two persons. They saw her when she was walking back from school and stopped next to her asking if she wanted a lift home. Since the girl knew the accused, she got on the bike but instead of taking her home, they took her to a secluded place where they took turns to rape her. We registered the case and started an investigation.”
After the assault, the accused dropped the girl back to the same spot. The girl’s medical test was done, the report of which is awaited.
“The girl’s statement under CrPC Section 164 is yet to be recorded and once we have more details, we will arrest the accused based on the facts which come out during the investigation. We will also question the two accused”, added the official.
Cops are also trying to witnesses who might have seen the girl getting on the bike with the accused as it was in broad daylight and looking for the place where the alleged rape happened to find more forensic evidence. The minor is not suffering from any health issues following the assault.
A case under POCSO act has been registered. This recent incident supports the National Crime Records Bureau data for 2018 which said that in Section 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act , in 89% of the cases, the offenders were known to the victims.
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
