Thane: FIR against Shiv Sena neta's husband for rape, blackmail

KALYAN: A Shiv Sena corporator's husband was booked for allegedly raping a woman after blackmailing her into entering his car in Kalyan.
The Kolsewadi police said the accused, Sainath Tare, husband of corporator Manisha Tare, took an incriminating video recording of the woman that he used to blackmail her, and then raped her in his luxury car.
The police said the accused had met the woman in September 2018 at Metro Mall in Kalyan, to discuss a business proposal. The woman did not like the proposal and refused to be a part of it, said the police.
In her complaint, the woman said that the accused blackmailed her and took her to a spot near APMC market in Kalyan, where he raped her inside the car. The police added that Sainath threatened to kill her husband and five-year-old son, and forced her to sign a notary paper stating that their affair was consensual.
The accused used to send her obscene videos and messages on social media as well, said the police. "We have registered a case and are probing the allegations before we take any action," said senior inspector Sahurao Salve.
