BOKARO: A 15-year-old student of Class IX, who went to defecate in the open on the morning of January 30, was kidnapped and gang-raped by two in Giridih, police said.
However, they said that an FIR in connection with the crime was filed only on Thursday as there was a death in the minor's family and her parents feared social stigma.
Officer in-charge of Dumri police station, Upender Kumar Rai, said, "An FIR has been lodged under the POCSO Act against Arvind Mandal and Avinash Mandal, residents of Purni Bhandro of Nagabad under Dumri police station. We have launched a search operation to arrest the culprits."
The FIR stated that the girl had gone out from her house to defecate in the open because of the lack of toilet at her house when the two accused came in a car and kidnapped her.
Later, she was taken to a forest two kilometers away from her house and gang-raped by the unidenfied accused.
Upon hearing her screams, a few villagers rushed to the spot but the accused had already fled .
(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
