HYDERABAD:
Income tax sleuths have conducted searches on properties of several persons and infra companies linked to prominent politicians, including former
Andhra Pradesh chief minister
N Chandrababu Naidu and his son
N Lokesh, across the two Telugu states.
I-T investigation wing sleuths from Delhi unit on Thursday raided properties of Naidu's former personal secretary P Srinivasa Rao, Lokesh's key aide Kilaru Rajesh, several infra companies linked to TDP leaders in the city,
Vijayawada and Kadapa. Searches were also conducted on TRS leader and vice-chairman of the State Planning Commission B Vinod Kumar's brother and Prathima Hospitals chairman Boinapally Srinivasa Rao in the city.
I-T sleuths took CRPF escort, not local policeSearches were conducted following a tip-off on money flow into DNC Infra, which was earlier raided by I-T sleuths. The tax sleuths were looking into flow of money from big infra companies into subcontractors and further to various companies linked to politicians, especially during the election time. Interestingly, I-T sleuths took Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) escort instead of local police as they searched several companies, directors and aides of prominent politicians.
P Srinivasa Rao was personal secretary of Naidu till the 2019 Assembly elections in April. Around 4am, I-T sleuths knocked the doors of Srinivas’ residence in Vijayawada.
Taxmen also conducted searches on properties of TDP Kadapa district president Reddappagari Srinivasa Reddy, whose family owns RK Infracorp Private Limited. RK Infra Group had executed several irrigation and roadway projects in Andhra Pradesh.
Searches were also conducted on another infra company, Avexa Corporation Private Limited, owned by former minister Prathipati Pulla Rao’s son Prathipati Sarat, at Aurora Colony in Banjara Hills.
I-T sleuths also paid a visit to Lokesh’s friend Kilaru Rajesh, who was one of the backroom boys during the 2019 elections. Rajesh was director of two companies.
TRS leader Vinod Kumar's brother Srinivasa Rao's companies and residences were also searched. Rao is a director of 19 companies, including infra comapnies, and chairman of Prathima Hospitals located in Kukatpally, Kachiguda and Karimnagar.
