More govt depts under EPFO scanner

Ludhiana: A day after the regional office of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) issued notices to the Ludhiana municipal corporation for various violations under the provident fund act, it has been learnt that several other government departments and undertakings are under the scanner of EPFO for similar violations, including untimely deposition of provident fund and exclusion of employees and workers under PF scheme.
Sources said in addition to the government organisations, several big business houses too are under EPFO’s radar and it might take action against the offenders in the coming days. Last year too, the EPFO had issued arrest warrants against several prominent businessmen of Ludhiana for deliberately defaulting on payment of PF and attached several business and commercial premises to recover the pending amount from offenders.
