Here are some important tips for a day before the examination.
Candidates are advised to visit the examination centre a day before the exam, it will help you to get used to the environment. It will help you in saving time on the exam day, because you can plan well the next day.
On exam day, try to reach the examination centre at least one hour earlier. Candidates are advised not to think of the subject/topics you have not prepared while sitting in the examination hall, because it may cause some panic in you and there you can't panic. Before starting the exam, candidates should meditate at least five to 10 minutes while waiting for the exam to begin or if you don't know how to meditate then do some breathing exercise of simply close your eyes and count from 1 to 100.
Carry a water bottle with you and drink it sip by sip, after every 10-15 minutes, not the entire water in one go as taking water reduces stress.
On the night before the exam day, you should take sound sleep at least for eight hours. Don't learn new topic or new things; just revise what you have done so far.
Try to learn how to use calculator, a virtual calculator in the examination. You can take the free test available at the IIT-Delhi website which is exactly the same as the main GATE test and you just understand how to use the virtual calculator. Some time it happens either in the aptitude section or in the Computer Science section top four or five questions are usually very tough. Candidates misunderstood that the entire question paper is very tough and they panicked, but actually this is not the case. You need to calm down and leave these questions. Leaving five question or even 10 questions is not going to affect your GATE rank, even after leaving 10 questions you can still make it to the top 100. So don't panic and keep your calm.
If you find a question is very easy and you can solve it in a minute then solve it then and there and don't forget to save it and then go to the next question. It is very important to save a question you just attempted.
If you find that you can solve a question but it will take some time to solve it then don't solve this then and there and mark this question for review and move on to the next question. At the end attempt this difficult question(s). For very difficult questions don't mark anything just leave it. Remember, save and next is the most important thing.
Above all, if you have prepared well for the GATE, just relax and sleep more than eight hours, you are going to perform well in the examination.
