‘Atithya 2020’ kicks off

PUNE: The AISSMS College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology inaugurated the 12th annual international intercollegiate hospitality competition event, Atithya 2020.

The three-day event was inaugurated by Rishi Chopra, General Manager, Sheraton Grand, on Wednesday. 32 colleges from India and abroad participated in the event. 

On the first day, six competitions were held. Chef Bhushan Ganorkar, Corporate Chef Swiggy and Chef Shailendra Kekade, judged the ‘Desi Box’ competition. 

The competition was based on preparing Indian working lunch, which can be packed in a box.

Manoj Vanjari, software and management consultant, and Aswani Bhakoo, a corporate trainer, judged the ‘Idea Manch’ competition, which was based on identifying one global issue or challenge and giving its solution in three minutes.

Vikram Shah, Director, International Beverage School, and Pukhraj Bedi, Restaurant Manager, Paasha, JW Marriott, judged ‘Aromachologist’ competition where participants had to identify aroma and flavours, list the ingredients and design an innovative label.

The “Exo-Terra’ competition was judged by Smita Pandya, Landscape designer and project lead at Urban Scapes, and Madurima Sarkar, training manager at Grand Sheraton, and was hosted by Sheraton Grand at their rooftop restaurant ‘Chingari”. 

The concept was to make your Terrarium (mini landscape). Another competition was ‘Clone-Me.’ Chef Smaran Shetty of Piatto Dessert Studio prepared a dessert, which was reproduced by the participants and evaluated by Chef Smaran and Chef Ambar Roday, from Le Petit Amour. The day ended on a high note with ‘Born Again Dare to Flare’ competition, which was evaluated by Pankaj Kamble, Director, Flair-O- Logy Bar School & Events. The concept of the competition was to showcase flaring skills with entertainment.
