Box Office Day 1 early estimates: Aditya Roy Kapur-Disha Patani's 'Malang' has decent start, 'Shikara' poor

Aditya Roy Kapur-Disha Patani's 'Malang' clashed with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Shikara' as both the films released today. The early Box Office estimates of both the films have been released and 'Malang' has an edge over 'Shikara', at least in the morning shows.

'Malang' began with 15-20% occupancy. Although the Box Office opening is decent, Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani starring film was expected to open better. Now the movie needs to show growth over the weekend in order to be noticed. Since that usually isn't the case with an action and thriller film, 'Malang' might witness lesser growth than expected over the weekend, reports Box Office India.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra produced film 'Shikara', on the other hand, had a dull opening of 5% occupancy. The movie received support from 'Titanic' and 'Avatar' helmer James Cameron and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, but neither of that seemed to have helped the film so far.

Apart from 'Malang' and 'Shikara', Hina Khan's 'Hacked' released in theatres. Despite promotions on shows like 'Bigg Boss 13', the movie went unnoticed. 'Kaanchli  Life In A Slough', 'Taanashah' and 'Yahan Sab Gyani Hain' also released alongside the movies, but like 'Hacked', they all went unnoticed.
