PM Modi on Friday attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over "danda" jibe in a rally at Assam's Kokrajhar, saying one with a protective shield of mothers and sisters of the country cannot be harmed.
"Kabhi kabhi log danda marne ki baatein karte hain. Lekin jis Modi ko itne badi matra mein mata aur beheno ka suraksha kawach mila ho us par kitne bhi dande gir jaye, usko kuch nahi hota," He said, while hitting back at Rahul.
"It's because of people's support that a new dawn of permanent peace has arrived in Assam. We have to work together for peace and development of NE, will not allow violence to return," Modi said at the rally which is being held to celebrate Bodo peace accord.
"The agreements signed in 1993 and 2003 could not bring permanent peace in BTAD; there is no demand left with the signing of this Bodo Accord," he said.
"It is time to implement Clause 6 of Assam Accord, Centre will work expeditiously once the report is submitted. I welcome all those who were part of the Bodo Land Movement and have joined the mainstream. After five decades, with full harmony, the expectations and aspirations of every partner associated with the Bodo Land Movement have been respected," he said.
"Today is the day to acknowledge the support of all the young people belonging to All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary & Assam Govt, who played a very positive role for this agreement," Modi added.
"Nobody addressed issues of Northeast and allowed disturbances to continue; this approach distanced people of region and they lost faith in the Constitution. Northeast was under AFSPA for a long time but now Tripura and many parts of other states are free from it," Modi said while attacking Congress.
