Thought dad style was over? Think again.
Dua Lipa has entered a new chapter in her career. The pop singer’s new album, Future Nostalgia, is coming out this spring; she also just released the music video for her latest single, “Physical,” in which she wears a series of simple, monochromatic looks. Now, she’s busy making the press rounds for her new music—and she’s got a brand new fashion moment to go with it.
This week, Lipa made an appearance at BBC Radio One in London, where she gave dad style a fresh update. Dad sneakers—those chunky, ugly-chic kicks you saw everywhere at Coachella and beyond—were all the rage a few seasons ago; Lipa revived the trend with a chunky all-white style by Prada. Equally as dad-like was her brown leather bomber jacket, which could be a vintage piece straight from the 1980s with its drop-shoulder silhouette. (Kendall Jenner has also made the case for dad jackets in the past.) The singer styled the two throwback pieces with clean, modern accents such as a simple white tee, high-waisted jeans, and a sleek cross-body bag. The accessories made her hipster-chic ensemble feel less Brooklyn, more fashun.
Does this mean Lipa will be juxtaposing the futuristic aesthetic of her new album with more vintage-inspired wears during her upcoming promo tour? Only time will tell, but Lipa has a history of keeping fans guessing with her fashion choices. Watch this space.
