No new coronavirus cases reported till Wednesday

PUNE: A total of 14,376 passengers were screened for Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) till Wednesday, out of which, 129 passengers were from Maharashtra.

So far, 22 patients have been tested and their samples were reported negative for nCoV by the National Institute of Virology (NIV).

As per the State Health Department, four patients are still admitted at the isolation wards and are awaiting test results. Three patients are at Government General Hospital in Nagpur and one is at Kasturba hospital in Mumbai. One of the patients was tested negative, whereas the test results of others are still awaited.

Passengers who have travelled from nCoV infected countries are from Jalgaon, Nashik and Ahmednagar districts and the State Health Department is taking necessary actions to test these passengers.

ALL 645 EVACUEES TEST NEGATIVE FOR NCOV
All 645 evacuees from Wuhan, China, have tested negative for nCoV. In addition, out of 510 samples tested by Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) network laboratories, all have tested negative except for 3 previously reported nCoV positive patients who are now clinically stable.

As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), as on Thursday, 1,38,750 passengers from 1,265 flights have been screened for nCoV illness. Till now, no new cases have been detected. The community surveillance and contact tracing are still going on by IDSP for 6,558 persons across 32 states/UTs.

MOHFW, in coordination with Central ministries and all states and Union Territories (UT), is taking adequate measures for the management of nCoV in India. In case of fever, cough and symptoms of pneumonia, seek medical attention immediately, said MOHFW.

AFMC LAB MAY TEST NCOV SAMPLES
The government has sanctioned 10 laboratories across the country for carrying out research work related to various viruses and one of them will be located at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC). They may be utilised for testing coronavirus samples also, informed Director General Armed Forces Medical Service (AFMS) Lt Gen Anup Banerji on Thursday. He also said that the vigil at all entry points along the China and Nepal borders have been stepped up in the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. Medical check-ups are being done before allowing entry in the country.
