Karnataka: Coast Guard DIG S Babu Venkatesh takes charge of headquarters

MANGALURU: Deputy inspector general S Babu Venkatesh has assumed the charge of headquarters, Coast Guard District No. 3, Karnataka on Friday. He took charge from DIG S S Dasila, who has been transferred to Mumbai.
A 1992 batch officer, the DIG Venkatesh during his three decades of career has commanded various class of ships which includes, Fast Patrol Vessel, Offshore Patrol Vessel, Hovercraft and Interceptor Boats.
He has held various staff appointments which include, chief staff officer (Personnel and Administration) at Regional Headquarters A&N and staff officer to Commander Coast Guard (East) where the officer has effectively ensured administrative framework.
S Babu Venkatesh is specialized in communication and holds an M Phil degree in defence and strategic studies from Madras University. He said, his priorities are setting the infrastructure for future Coast Guard operational requirements which will boost the safety of Coast of Karnataka.
