PUNE: The
Pune Municipal Corporation (
PMC) has initiated steps to conduct structural audit of all those building structures owned by the civic body which are more than 30 years old.
A proposal was tabled before the standing committee of PMC pertaining to the appointment of an agency to take up the audit work. The proposal was recently received a nod from the standing committee. A fund of Rs. 38 lakh has been proposed for the audit work which will include seven types of technical checks of each structure.
As per the civic administration, about 30 buildings which are more than 30 years old are expected to undergo the inspections and audit in the first phase. The administration has identified the structure and a primary inspection of these structures has been done recently.
An official from PMC said that with the standing committee’s nod the administration has now almost completed the process of tendering and appointment of an agency to conduct the inspections. The standing committee while clearing the proposal said that this structural audit was necessary from the safety point and initiate the repairs at appropriate time. The inspection work is expected to begin in next few days.
