KOTA: Following the report of deaths of three children at Udiya Basti in Dadabari area of Kota in last five months, the district administration and medical and health department took several measures on Thursday. The deaths were reportedly due to diarrhoea caused by drinking contaminated water.
District collector Om Kasera called a meeting of officials and ordered a probe to ascertain the actual reason of death of three children in the last five months. He ordered immediate cleaning drive, survey and medical camps.
He also asked the officials of departments concerned to carry out door-to-door survey to collect samples, to repair leakages in drinking water pipelines and to start a cleanliness drive in the area.
A seven-member medical team led by deputy CMHO Ghanshyam Meena carried out door-to-door survey in 250 houses and examined 15 children suffering from cold and cough who were immediately administered proper medical treatment. Fogging was carried out in the area.
“No child was diagnosed with symptoms of diarrhoea in Udiya Basti,” the medical official said.
“Water samples collected from drinking water pipelines in Udiya Basti were in examined and found accurate to the standards,” executive engineer of PHED Bharat Bhushan Miglani said. In physical test, 7.5 PH, 1.2 turbidity was found and in chemical test, drinking water was examined up to the standards,” he added.
“During investigation, three children were found to have died on September 27, October 23 and February 1, respectively. The death audit of the three children to ascertain actual reason of death would be conducted,” said Kota CMHO B S Tanwar.
The three children who died were in paediatric age group, he added.
There are 483 houses in the Basti and door-to-door survey at every house would be carried out, he added.
