BENGALURU: Police are searching for a miscreant who sped away with a sports bike worth Rs 2.3 lakh from a student on the pretext of taking it for a test drive.
The 21-year-old student from Jayanagar 4th Block had posted on an online advertisement portal that he wanted to sell his bike.
The businessman’s son was approached by a prospective buyer, who identified himself as Sagar, and asked the student to meet him near a hotel in JP Nagar III Phase.
Accordingly, the duo met at 2.40pm on January 31. Sagar asked the student for the bike key, saying he would take it for a spin. Before the boy could react, Sagar sped away on the sportsbike and never returned.
“We have registered a case of theft and cheating against Sagar, based on the student’s complaint. Efforts are on to nab him,” a JP Nagar police officer said.
