Chandigarh man gets three years' jail in cheating case

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh district court awarded three years in jail to a Chandigarh resident in a cheating case. The convict has been identified as Anil Kumar, a resident of Sector 40. The court also has imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him. Anil is stated to have cheated a man after taking money and his education certificates on the pretext of sending him abroad.
The matter dates to 2011 when a case was registered against the convict under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 24 of the IT Act.
Satish Kumar, a resident of Jind, complained to the police that he wanted to go abroad and met Anil Kumar, whom he gave Rs 8 lakh. He also gave him his Classes X and XII certificates, which the accused has not returned even now. He complained that his 4 years were ruined because of the accused. He was neither sent abroad nor his money was returned due to which he had suffered mentally and physically. He later filed a complaint against Anil and had demanded strict action against the accused.
