JAIPUR: City police arrested three persons who had fired at a man in Mansarovar area of Jaipur on February 2, in what appears to be a case of gang rivalry.
The complainant Ravi Badgurjar had registered a case against the three accused at Shipra Path police station alleging that he was fired at by them and had to run to save his life. The accused were identified as Karan Singh, Mehtab Singh and Jafar. Police also recovered two country-made weapons from them.
“The complainant and the accused were initially part of the same gang which was led by Bharatpur-based Vijay Pal. They indulged in illegal sand mining and liquor smuggling. After a while, Karan broke away and formed his own gang. Angered with this, Vijay got Karan brutally thrashed. Some time back, Vijay was killed in a gang war in Bharatpur,” said a police official.
According to police, Karan came back to Mansarovar area and started an operation to eliminate rest of the members of Vijay’s gang, which included the complainant.
A team was constituted to trace the accused and prevent a possible gang war. Police placed barricades and using human intelligence, found the accused’s location following which they were arrested. They have been booked under relevant IPC sections and the Arms Act.
