GURUGRAM: Six organisations have signed up for a GMDA project to develop green belts along 12 major stretches in the city like Southern Peripheral Road and MG Road. Along with developing and maintaining the green belts, they will also repair and maintain footpaths, cycling tracks and traffic signals around some belts.
Companies like
MakeMyTrip,
Vatika Ltd, Ireo, Fil India Business Research Services, Nagarro and Real Capital Towers have signed up for this project. Each organisation has been allotted areas to focus on. For instance, Nagarro will develop a
green belt along Anath Road in Sector 18 and a portion of the Southern Peripheral Road. “The green belt was earlier to be developed by GMDA itself, but now it has been handed over to Nagarro,” said GMDA official.
“As per MoUs, these organisations will also carry out the maintenance work for a specified time period. The companies would be in charge of watering of plants, adding pesticides, pruning and hedging of plants and trees,” said a GMDA official. He added that the project will be funded fully by the organisations under
CSR, saving the authority a significant amount of funds.
Similarly, Vatika will work on several sector roads in the new sectors 82, 83 and 84. MakeMyTrip has taken up MG Road and Sikanderpur Road,
Fund India Research will develop and maintain green belts along the road connecting
Subhash Chowk and Bakhtawar Chowk and Real Capital Towers will develop those along the roads dividing sectors 58 and 59, and 60 and 61.
Last year as well, GMDA had signed up more than 10 organisations under the same project.
