Cricket tournament: Pratik Siddharth steers TOI to big victory

NAGPUR: Guided by a brilliant unbeaten knock of 93 by opening batsman Pratik Siddharth, defending champions The Times of India (TOI) thrashed Dainik Bhaskar by 74 runs to start their campaign on a rousing note in the 22nd edition of OCW-SJAN Twenty20 Cricket tournament at the Vasnat Nagar ground here on Wednesday.
The annual tourney is organized by the Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur in association with OCW, State Bank of India and HCL Technologies.
Opting to bat, TOI piled up 174 for 5 in 20 overs. Pratik carried his bat through and remained undefeated on 93. Sandeep Dabhekar played a cameo of 25 not out.
In reply, Dainik Bhaskar were restricted to 100 for 8 in 20 overs.
Sandeep Wardhane and Faizul Qamar took two wickets each.
Earlier, OCW director KMP Singh, HCL Technologies Nagpur head Shailesh Awale, regional manager of SBI Fanish Gupta and former Vidarbha alll-rounder Hemant Wasu inaugurated the tournament and also released 'Cric Media' souvenir. On Thursday, Lokmat will take on Sakal in Group 'B' match at 9.30 am.
