PM Modi speech live: Those who speak about minorities should remember 1984

Modi: What will happen if people take to the streets against laws passed in Congress-ruled states like MP and Rajasthan.?

PM Modi: Those who speak of persecuting minorities , should remember the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. Many innocents were brutally killed. You did not send those who are accused in the anti-Sikh riots to jails. Not just that, you also made someone who has allegations of instigating anti-Sikh riots, a Chief Minister. How can there be two kinds of minorities?

Modi: No citizen of this country will suffer on account of CAA.

Modi: Pandit Nehru at that time had written in letters that Hindu and Muslim refugees should be seen differently, he has also said that Hindus in East Pakistan were under pressure. Was he communal? Was he making a Hindu rashtra?

Modi: What Nehru said during the time of the Nehru-Liaquat pact, is what we are saying now.

Modi: There are still attacks on minorities in Pakistan. And this attack is not just on Hindus and Muslims. Some Muslims too suffer.

PM Modi: Wishing to become PM is not a crime. But for someone to become a PM a nation was a divided and there was attack on minorities.

Modi: it was Muslims who gave the slogans of Quit India and Jai Hind. The problem is that for the Congress they are just Muslims.

Modi: Some members asked what was the hurry in bringing CAA. Some said the govt was doing Hindu-Muslim. Some said govt was dividing the people. Those people went there and took photos with those who wanted to do tukde-tukde.

PM Modi: Kashmir's identity was buried on Jan 19, 1990...Some people said Kashmir will be on fire after removing Art 370. This is a govt which respects and upholds the Constitution Some people here complain some leaders have been incarcerated. Mehbooba Mufti said , 'Kashmir made a mistake by joining India'. Are you justifying such kind of speech? Omar Abdullah said there will be such a quake that Kashmir will separate from India. Farooq Abdullah said after removal of Art 370 there wont be people left to fly the Indian flag in Kashmir. These are people who do not trust the people of Kashmir. We trusted the people of Kashmir, abrogated Art 370 and is taking steps for its progress.

PM Modi to Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury: There are people here who have suffered in West Bengal. If they start giving their account on how they were oppressed , it will be very uncomfortable for you.

PM Modi: Who brought 'remote control governance' through the National Advisory Council (NAC), which had a bigger role than the position of the Prime Minister and the PM's Office, those people have to talk repeatedly about saving the Constitution.

PM Modi: Those who are now talking about the Constitution again and again, where were they when the Constitution was sabotaged by the Emergency.

Modi: We have kept the fiscal deficit in check. Price rise is also under check and there is macro-economic stability. Investor confidence should increase, the country's economy should be strengthened, for this we have also taken several steps. Our focus is on infrastructure development and creation of jobs.

PM Modi: Those who made big promises to farmers before taking oath are yet to keep those promises. There are representatives of those states here. Please go and remind them of those promises.

PM Modi: I have this to tell the Opposition: do politics if you must, but do not play with the future of farmers. Driven by politics, some states are not allowing farmers to benefit from PM-Kisan Scheme. I appeal to them, please let there be no politics in farmer welfare. We all have to work together for the prosperity of farmers of India.

PM Modi: Delhi has over the last five years reached the doors of the people of NorthEast. For years, distance became a reason to ignore the Northeast region. Things have changed now. The Northeast is becoming a growth engine. Excellent work has been done in so many sectors. Ministers and officials are regularly visiting the region.

Modi: India can no longer wait for problems to remain unsolved. And, rightfully so. That is why our target is: speed and scale, determination and decisiveness, sensitivity and solution. People saw the speed at which we moved and hence gave us an even bigger mandate to go ahead with speed

Modi: If we had followed Congress path the law on benami properties would not have happened even after 28 hours, a CDS would not have been appointed.

Modi: Opposition asks why we are going about things in such a hurry... If we went at the same pace and direction you went , Kasmhmir would be still under Art 370. Muslim women would still under threat of triple talaq, Ramjanmabhoomi would still be under dispute, and Kartarpur corridor would not have happened. There would be no India-Bangladesh land agreement.
