Allahabad: A 35-year-old woman was arrested on charges of strangling her six-year-old step son to death in Pipri area of Kaushambi district on Thursday.
The arrested woman was identified as Minta Devi, wife of Chandan Pasi and resident of Giriya Khalsa village. Additional SP (Kaushambi) Ashok Kumar said, “The matter came to light when the body of a six-year-old boy, Arun Kumar, was found inside his home in Giriya village on Tuesday night. A case under section 302 of the IPC was registered at Pipri police station.”
“On Wednesday, the postmortem report of the minor revealed strangulation as the cause of death,” the SP said. “When police rigorously interrogated Minta, she confessed to have killed the minor boy out of jealousy,” he added.
Police informed that Minta had left her first husband—with whom she had two kids—six years ago and had later married another man named Chandan Pasi.
Even after four years into the marriage, she had no child with Chandan. Arun was Chandan’s only child from his first wife who died around four years ago.
Irked over not having a child with Chandan for the past four years, Minta hatched a conspiracy to kill Arun out of jealousy.
