Facelifted 2021 Jaguar F-Type Pounces On Chicago With Its Top Down

Jaguar’s updated 2021 F-Type has just landed in Chicago for its North American premiere, with buyers now able to choose between three available powertrains.

The F-Type received a mid-cycle update back in December of last year, where it now looks wider and more dynamic thanks to its slimmer headlights, redesigned bumpers and larger honeycomb mesh grille.

There’s also a new hood, new wheels and updated front fender vents. The rear meanwhile features new taillights that no longer light up in a circular fashion.

Inside, there’s a new 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and the carmaker’s latest Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus over-the-air updates. Aside from the tech, the overall design of the cabin underwent changes too.

As for available drivetrains, in the U.S. you can opt for either a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot with 296 HP, a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 HP or a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 with 575 HP. The latter needs just 3.5 seconds in order to take you to 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill, whereas the V6 requires 4.9 seconds. The four-pot meanwhile is the slowest, coming in at 5.4 seconds – though to be fair, it does have rear-wheel drive, unlike the other configurations.

If you’re interested in top speed figures (not that relevant for day-to-day operation), know that the V8-powered F-Type R will max you out at 186 mph (300 km/h), while the V6 and four-pot will manage 171 mph (275 km/h) and 155 mph (250 km/h) respectively.

All engine configurations are available for both Coupe and Convertible body styles.
