Inquiry committee of HRD arrives on AU campus
The team members visited several departments and facilities on the campus including department of Bio-chemistry, central library, Vizanagram hall etc.

ALLAHABAD: The three-member inquiry committee, constituted by the HRD ministry to probe the allegations of irregularities during the period of former VC, Prof RL Hangloo, arrived on the AU campus, on Thursday.
Headed by Prof Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, the team met different officials, including the officiating VC of AU, and visited various department and have returned. Prakash Mani Tripathi, VC INGNTU, Amarkantak and Rama Shankar Dubey, VC Gujarat Central University were the other two members of the team.
The team members visited several departments and facilities on the campus including department of Bio-chemistry, central library, Vizanagram hall etc. The team met the officiating Vice Chancellor Prof R R Tewari and had a closed-door meeting with him for around 20 minutes.
In a brief interaction with media, the team informed that they AU registrar, N K Shukla has been made the nodal officer of the inquiry committee and whosoever has any complaint or allegations of any irregularity, the person concerned can submit the same to the nodal officer along with valid supporting documents.
Subsequently, AU registrar issued a notification on Thursday wherein it has been mentioned that anyone, who wants to complain against the former VC Prof RL Hangloo (in terms of any financial and administrative irregularities) can submit the same at registrar office by February 16. The notification also says that the inquiry committee can give appointment to any of the complainant if they find substance in the allegations.
When the team members were asked as to how the registrar can be made the nodal officer of the inquiry committee in the backdrop of the fact that there are allegations regarding his appointment, Prof Rao said, "It was the decision of the ministry to make the registrar as nodal officer and our inquiry would be least affected by the fact that who is taking care of our logistics etc". We are all well-known figures and our personal numbers and email id's are in the public domain, anyone can send us the complaint with supporting enclosures, he added.
The team member also said that they can again visit AU in the coming days, as and when the need arises, and they will also request the government to extent the period of submitting their report which presently is only for one month. The team said that their report would include the issues of recommendations of the National women commission and how far AU has implemented the same on the campus.
Although the team members refused to divulge anything further but highly places sources told TOI that the team members have returned with all the complaints and would be collecting the same till February 16. Each complaint would be scrutinized at individual merit and subsequently the inquiry committee could probe the same in further depth, coming on the campus several many times.
