State govt grants Rs12 lakh for Ankita’s treatment

Wardha: The state government on Wednesday granted 12 lakh compensation to Ankita Pisudde, a 25-year-old college teacher who was set ablaze by a stalker in Hinganghat on Monday. Wardha district administration on Wednesday transferred 4 lakh to Orange City Hospital and Research Institute (OCHRI) towards her treatment.
Ankita’s condition remained critical on Wednesday but her vitals are stable. She underwent second debridement and dressing, as per the hospital.
According to Wardha district collector Vivek Bhimanwar, a provision of around Rs12 lakh has been made as per estimates given by the hospital. “Rs4 lakh have been deposited in the hospital’s account, which should be enough at this stage,” he said.
Apart from staging protests in Hinganghat over the incidents, people are also praying for well-being of the victim. Prayers were organized in temples on Wednesday.
Vaishali Bhute, resident of Sayaji Nagar in Hinganghat, said that all women from her colony prayed for improvement in Ankita’s condition. “Her condition is very critical. We are chanting Mahamutranjay Mantra with a belief that the almighty will save her,” she said.
Giving a political twist to the case, state vice-president of BJP Chitra Wagh said the state government delayed the compensation. “The amount was given after efforts taken by BJP,” she claimed.
The accused, Vikesh Nagrale, is in Hinganghat police custody till February 8.
Vivek Timande of Daroda village from where Ankita hails, said that Nagrale was warned by her parents several times. “They were friends a year ago but since then she had been avoiding him,” he said.
On Wednesday, Nagpur divisional commissioner Sanjeev Kumar, Dr Sanjeev Jaiswal, Nagpur division deputy director health services, Sanjay Bhargava, on behalf of Bajaj Foundation Wardha, Aparna Kolhe, Nagpur district women’s & child development officer, and Rupali Chakankar, women state president, NCP, visited OCHRI to enquire about the status of the patient.
