Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins has proposed to his long-term girlfriend Becky Boston.

Cummins, 26, got down on one knee during a romantic picnic on a farm, sharing photos of the moment to Instagram on Wednesday.

'My forever person. I am the happiest girl in the world right now!!' Ms Boston wrote.

The interior designer, who was born in England and runs an online store selling luxury home furnishings, has been dating Cummins for several years.

She regularly posts photos of their lavish overseas jaunts, from skiing in Switzerland to lounging by pools in Dubai and Ibiza.

Ms Boston has regularly been seen in the stands cheering on Cummins as he makes his mark as one of Australia's most talented fast bowlers.

In December, Cummins became the most expensive foreign player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

The 26-year-old was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for $3.17 million, outweighing previous highest paid player Ben Stokes who received $3million.

After the announcement of the huge price, Cummins revealed what his girlfriend had in mind.

'My girlfriend, the first thing she said was we can buy the dog a couple more toys now. So she's got her priorities sorted,' he said in a press conference.

'The boys in the team are great but also my family and friends. I still play cricket because I love it. I am really fortunate and grateful for everything that has happened.'

Despite the hefty salary, the bowler said he was in it for the love of the game.

'I still play cricket because I love it and love being around everyone and everything that comes with it. So yeah, just really fortunate and grateful for everything that's happened but hopefully, it doesn't change me,' he said.

Ranked the world No.1 test bowler, Cummins was last year awarded Cricket Australia's highest individual honour - the Allan Border Medal.

He was awarded 156 votes on the night, beating out Lyon on 150 and One Day International Captain Aaron Finch (146).

Cummins took 44 wickets across all formats during the 12-month voting period.
