KOLKATA: In yet another incident of alleged poisoning of dogs in the Jadavpur-Garia belt — the eighth in the past one and a half years — three puppies were found dead in the Green park area of Purba Jadavpur. A specific complaint in this regard was registered by Satyanarayan Sikdar, a resident of Shanti Park, on Monday.
Police said according to the complaint, a woman from Green Park had been threatening to poison the puppies if they did not stop soiling her house. On February 1, Sikdar found all three dogs lying unconscious on the streets. Locals took them to Ashari animal shelter off EM Bypass run by People for Animals. While two puppies were declared brought dead, another died during treatment.
“We have sent the bodies to the Belgachhia lab for forensic test to establish whether they were poisoned or not. We are trying to get CCTV images. The prime suspect happens to be a woman who is employed in the Dalhousie area and had settled here a few years ago. We have slapped IPC sections 428 and 429 in this respect,” said an investigating officer.
