KOZHIKODE: Governor and chancellor Arif Mohammed Khan has constituted new search committee for the selection of Calicut University vice chancellor by retaining all the three members who were part of the earlier search committee whose term had ended on November 15.
The search committee has Jawaharlal Nehru University vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar (UGC nominee), state planning board vice-chairman V K Ramachandran (senate nominee) and chief secretary Tom Jose as members.
The search committee will have a term of two months which is extendable by one more month. It is learnt that the committee will soon issue public notification inviting applications from candidates for the post.
The committee will shortlist candidates after interaction meeting with them and the list will be submitted to the chancellor for final selection.
The previous VC search committee the term of which ended on November 15 had failed to submit names of candidates necessitating forming a fresh search committee. Though the previous committee had called five shortlisted candidates for an interaction meeting on November 12, the meeting could not be held on the day, necessitating formation of fresh committee.
