Ropar girl tops in HCS (Judicial) exam

PATIALA: Bringing laurels to her district Ropar, Shweta Sharma, 25, had topped in Haryana Civil Service (Judicial) exam that was conducted by Haryana Public Service Commission from December 2018 to March 2019.
Shweta had passed her matric from Shivalik Public School Ropar and class twelve from IS Dev Samaj sen. Sec. school Chandigarh while she had done her five year BA – LLB course from UILS Punjab University, Chandigarh. After this, she opted for LLM from Army Institute of Law, Mohali where she has scored CGP 8.5 that was highest in her batch.
She said that it was her first attempt for HCS (Judicial) Haryana while she has been selected Rajasthan Judicial Service. “I had cleared the judicial exams (mains) of Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi also but in some, the interviews were pending so I am yet to decide to join in which state. It was my first attempt for HCS – Judicial. Behind my success and achievements is my family that supported me at each and every step. I had worked hard undoubtedly but there was no particular time for my studies as it always depends upon my mood. I used to watch TV and another source of entertainments to get relaxed”, said, Shweta.
Shweta’s mother Priya Sharma, said, “I was BSc, B.Ed. qualified but opted to remain as a housewife only to devote time for my children so they could achieve success. My daughter had made our heads high. In our family and relatives, Shweta is the first person to clear judicial exams.”
Her elder sister Parul Sharma was also, LLM qualified and has been settled abroad while her father Pawan Kumar Sharma is working as an SDO in Ropar Thermal Plant whereas her twin brother Ashish Vatsa has been working as a teacher in Chandigarh.
Pawan said, “My daughter has brought laurels for us. She worked hard for day and night to achieve this success.”
Notably, the HPSC got conducted judicial service exam (preliminary) in December 2018 and for a judicial (mains) in March 2019. Only nine candidates were passed in written (Mains) exam following which a writ petition in the Supreme Court was filed for revaluation. After revaluation 30 grace marks were given to the candidates in December 2019 following which 27 candidates of around 1200 appeared were declared as passed. In August 2018 the Punjab and Haryana High Court had re-advertised 107 posts lying vacant in HCS (Judicial).
