A three-day long
Mayurbhanj Utsav was held at
Utkal Mandap in the city, where people from this north Odisha district gathered and celebrated the culture, tradition, dance, music and food of that place. The city people, who had gone to this
festival, were awestruck witnessing the
Chhau dance, Jhumar songs, tribal dance and Odia film and television celebrities, who hail from this district, performing on the stage. Moreover, the
Mayurbhanj special cuisines like chuna ruti and
mudhi mansa also attracted many people to this festival.
Organised by the Mayurbhanj Cultural Association, the festival aims at bringing Mayurbhanj people residing in and around the capital city and promote the literary and cultural heritage of the erstwhile princely state.
“The utsav provided a platform for talented young performers from remote areas of Mayurbhanj along with eminent and celebrated dancers, musicians, singers, actors and literary personalities to perform during the festival. Along with the famous Chhau Dance and Jhumar songs being performed, the local crafts were also displayed for visitors to see,” said Gokul Chandra Das, general secretary of the association.
