16-year-old girl gang-raped in Rajkot; two accused arrested

Rajkot: Two persons were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly gang raping a 16-year-old girl at an under construction housing colony in Raiyadhar locality of Rajkot on Sunday night.
Police said the accused, identified as Dinesh Boria (19) and Pritam Algotar (22), took turns to rape the survivor after she left home on Sunday evening to meet her boyfriend.
The survivor had left her house to meet her boyfriend identified as Rahul. When Rahul did not answer her calls, the survivor called up Rahul’s friend Boria.
Boria said that as he could not come, he would send his friend Algotar to pick her up. Algotar came in his rickshaw and picked up the survivor.
“After taking her to Race Course Road and Kalawad Road, Algotar took her to an under construction housing colony in Raiyadhar where he allegedly raped her. Then Algotar called up Boria, who, too, came and allegedly raped the survivor on Sunday night,” said S R Patel, sub-inspector with Rajkot mahila police station.
On Monday night, the accused released the survivor who returned back to her home. Her father who had already lodged a complaint for her abduction, lodged the complaint of gang rape after the survivor narrated her ordeal.
The police rounded up Algotar and Boria from their residences on Tuesday night.
