PALAKKAD: Four persons are undergoing treatment in the district – three in
Palakkad District Hospital and one at
Ottapalam Taluk Hospital -- with another 123 under observation for
nCoV.
Dr A K Nazar, deputy district medical officer, said, “There need not be any anxiety as the three samples sent for testing to
Pune National Institute of Virology have turned out negative. Three more samples have been sent to the virology institute in Alappuzha and the results are awaited.”
District medical officer Dr K P Reetha said that of the seven samples sent to NIV two were negative and the remaining results are awaited.

Two in Kottayam MCH test negativeThe two people under observation at Kottayam MCH tested negative. Their first samples were tested at the virology institute in Alappuzha.
Meanwhile, one more person was admitted to the MCH for observation. Blood samples of this patient have also been sent to the lab. With this, the number of people under observation in the MCH has risen to three.
Based on directions of the health department, 81 persons are under home quarantine in the district.
Alappuzha patient stableDistrict collector M Anjana said the condition of the student who was admitted to the isolation ward of Alappuzha MCH is satisfactory.
At least 15 persons are in the isolation wards in the district after they showed symptoms. Of these, three were admitted on Tuesday. Around 167 are under house quarantine.
Over 25 samples were sent to Alappuzha institute for examination.
District police registered a case and started legal action against a WhatsApp group and a person from Thamarakkulam for spreading messages with details of the nCoV patient.
2 admitted in Kozhikode with feverA mother and a medical student hailing from Vadakara have been admitted to the Kozhikode Government General Beach Hospital isolation ward with fever on Tuesday.
The student had arrived recently from China while the hospital authorities admitted the mother on developing mild fever. The health department also sent swab samples of both of them to the lab in Alappuzha.
With this, total number of persons in the wards of Kozhikode MCH and Beach General Hospital rose to six.
94 under observation in KasaragodIn Kasaragod, where a positive case has been reported, around 94 people are under observation. Three have been hospitalized, including the student who has been infected.
The district administration said an expert team from Kozhikode MCH would reach Kasaragod on Wednesday to evaluate the situation. The hospitals are all equipped to handle any emergency, they said.
In Kannur, one more person was admitted to the isolation ward of Govt Medical College, Pariyaram for observation. With this there are three people under observation in the hospital while 153 are under observation in their respective houses, thus taking the total number to 156.
