3 snatchers arrested, 5 two-wheelers, phones recovered

Ludhiana: The Haibowal police have arrested three vehicle thieves on Tuesday in connection with two cases. The police also recovered four scooters, one bike, a mobile phone and a sharp-edged weapon from their possession.
In the first case, the police have arrested Mohit Kumar of Durgapuri, Haibowal, and Sooraj Pal of Jassiyan Road. The police have recovered a scooter PB10EZ6084, which had been snatched, a mobile phone and a sharp-edged weapon used to execute crime from their possession.
Assistant commissioner of police (West) Sameer Verma said, “The accused, Sooraj, have six cases of thefts and snatching registered against him. He was arrested last year but he later came out on bail. Mohit came in touch with Sooraj a few months ago through a common friend and started executing crime with him. The accused were arrested from a check post established near Jassiyan Road following a tip-off.
In another case, the Haibowal police have arrested Harkeerat Singh of Haqiqt Nagar, Haibowal. The police have recovered two scooters, one with registration number PB10HA0879 and the other without a number plate, and a motorcycle bearing registration number PB10EV3639 from their possession.
Sub-inspector Malkit Singh of police station, Haibowal, said, “Harkeerta Singh recently started committing vehicle thefts. He used to do recce of the area before stealing vehicles with a duplicate key. He stole four vehicles from Haibowal area and kept them in a vacant plot near his residential locality. He was looking for customers to sell these off but before the police managed to nab him.
The SI added that the accused was commuting on a scooter when he was stopped at a check post established near Sangam Palace chowk. The accused was asked for documents of the scooter, which he could not produce. On further questioning, the accused confessed that he had stolen the scooter form Haibowal area. After further interrogation three more vehicles were recovered from him.
FIRs have been lodged by Haibowal police in both cases.
