Absconding murder accused nabbed from Tankara

Rajkot: One of the two absconding murder accused was nabbed from Tankara in Morbi district on Wednesday. Police said the accused, identified as Raju Mahida along with his brother Kaju Mahida, had allegedly strangled Kailash Mavi (35) on the outskirts of Khakhara Bela village of Padadhari taluka in Rajkot district on January 31. The police are yet to probe the motive behind the murder.
According to the police, Mavi had left home for shopping in Padadhari on January 30 and returned home in the evening along with his sister Atar, her husband Raju and her brother in-law Kaju. After the dinner, Mavi took Raju and Kaju to his farm to sleep.
“The next morning, one Vanrajsinh Jadeja came to Mavi’s house to offer him some labour work. Savita went in search of him to the farm and discovered her husband’s dead body,” said R K Karamta, inspector, Amreli local crime branch. Postmortem report stated that Mavi died due to strangulation and cops booked Raju and Kaju for killing Mavi, based on Savita’s complaint. While Raju was arrested on basis of a tip-off in Tankara, Kaju is still missing.
