BENGALURU: The high court on Tuesday directed the district magistrate appointed to probe last year's
police firing in Mangaluru to issue a public notice for the purpose of collecting videos about the incident from individuals, including mediapersons.
Two people were killed and several others injured in the December 19 incident following
anti-CAA protests. A division bench headed by chief justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, which is hearing a PIL filed by freedom fighter HS Doreswamy, directed the DC to ensure CCTV footage and videos recorded by police are preserved. The bench which perused the district magistrate's report - submitted in a sealed envelope - noted that the inquiry is still in a preliminary stage.
