Drop in passenger footfall recorded at Pune airport

Pune: The Pune airport recorded lower passenger and flight movement from April to December 2019. 

According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) statistics, Pune passenger footfalls have gone down as compared to last year. In 2019-20 (April to December) the airport recorded 62.21 lakh passengers while in 2018-19 (April to December) it had 68.54 lakh passengers.

The decline of passengers at the airport is due to the suspension of Jet Airways and Lufthansa services early in 2019.

Domestic and international passenger movement at the airport declined by 8.6 and 32.2 per cent respectively. Similarly, the airport reported a 42.8 and 8.2 per cent decrease in international and domestic flight movement. 

As per data provided by AAI, from April to December 2019, a number of international passengers recorded was 1,24,193, which is less than the previous year. From April to December 2018, 1,83,100 international passenger footfall was recorded at the airport.
 
The footfall of domestic passengers has also gone down in this period. AAI has recorded 60,96,908 passengers travelled domestically from April to December 2019. While during the same period in 2018, the number of passengers travelled was 66,70,939.

The flight movement also dropped this year. As per the data, only 950 international flight movements were recorded at the Pune airport. Last year, the number was 1,662. Similarly, 40,512 domestic flights were recorded this year as compared to last year’s 44,134.
