Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved a plan to redevelop the periphery of
Tara Tarini temple, the famous shrine in Ganjam district, to make it one of the famous religious places in the country.
A presentation on the facelift of the shrine was made before the chief minister at the secretariat. On January 31, 5T secretary V K Pandian visited the famous shrine to discuss the development plan.
It plan includes renovation of Singhadwar entrance with amenities for pilgrims, pathways with drinking water facilities and beautification of the hilltop, where the temple is located.
There will be many new additions which include prasad sevan hall, interpretation centre, rest shed, food kiosk, drinking water facilities, shoe stand, foot wash, waiting area, barrier-free accessibility, sitting benches, watch tower, police outpost and first-aid centre, said an official statement issued by the chief minister’s office. There will be one meditation hall and view point over the hill top behind the temple.
Collector (Ganjam) Vijay Amrut Kulange said a detailed estimate regarding requirement of funds would be made for the shrine redevelopment plan. As the temple is one of the oldest Shakti Pithas of India, the state government plans to make it one of the most attractive religious tourism sites of the country. It will be developed keeping in view the Kalinga architecture style.
