‘Pag ghungroo’ showcases India’s rich dance culture

Artistes enthral the audience during the event
Nagpur: It was a lively environment in which four enthusiastic Kathak and Lavni performers captured the audience’s attention in a programme called ‘Pag ghungroo’ which showcased the combination of the two dance forms at Chitnavis Centre on Sunday.
The programme commenced with a salutation to Lord Ganesha in the form of a hymn, ‘Sur niragas ho’. It was followed by performances in ‘gavdan’ and ‘thumri’.
Amruta Guha and Arshia Tarkunde were the Kathak performers while Manasi Sharma and Amiya Anerao came up with performances in Lavni. The dancers kept the audience captivated and entertained throughout the programme with charm and perfection. They were guided by Priyanka Abhyankar from Sanskar Kathak group.
Baithkachi Lavni, a famous variation of lavni, was brought out in a very expressive manner by the performer. It was widely appreciated by the audience and was a big hit.
The other performances, depicting Kathak and lavni in their purest form, were also presented. ‘Aamad’, ‘Tihaayi’, ‘Paran’, ‘Tode’, ‘Atagat’, ‘Gatinikas’ and ‘Tatkaar’ were Kathak-related performances. The performance was quite refreshing. Lavni was performed on ‘Nesali pitambar jari’. ‘Tarana’ was yet another pure Kathak dance performed and ‘Chhabidar chhabi’, a song from the movie Pinjra, was presented in the form of lavni. The audience truly enjoyed the bliss of a combined lavni and Kathak programme performed entirely on instrumental music.
Anchor Ravindra Durugkar highlighted the true meaning of traditional dance forms and stated that such programmes keep the Indian dance styles and Indian culture alive. Avantika Chitnavis, trustee of Chitnavis Centre, welcomed and felicitated Abhyankar.
Sanskar Kathak Kendra presented this traditional programme in collaboration with Chitnavis Centre.
